Earth Hour 2011

//
It's that time of year again - Saturday March 26th at 8:30pm is Earth Hour.

For those of you who don't know about Earth Hour it's a worldwide movement where people switch of the power for one hour. You  might ask how much energy is saved by switching everything off for one hour, but it's more than that - it's a politic statement, a social, cultural and environmental statement...

...Individuals and businesses around the world, in solidarity, are all signalling their commitment to tackling climate change - Think about the offices where the lights are left on, the public landmarks that are lit up purely for aesthetic reasons. I love a good light show but it is a total waste of energy so when somebody in power sees "the lights go out" then maybe the lightbulb in their head will switch on and they'll stop and think... "How can I save energy, how can I combat negative climate change?"

Whatever you think about Earth Hour, join in, switch the power off for an hour. No TV. No lights. Get the candles out, the lantern.

Find out more about Earth Hour by pulling the light switch in the top right-hand corner or visiting the Earth Hour website.
