Same here Rose, my dad was buried in a wicker casket. Funny that the cardboard ones were cheaper though!

Our funeral director had quite a good range of coffins made from bamboo and willow even cardboard (though they were the most expensive!!!!!). My dad would have gone mad, literally spinning in his grave, if we'd spent loads of money. We found cheaper coffins on-line. They delivered it to our funeral director.

My Mum died recently & we chose a bamboo ecoffin as we had strangely as she was only 66 & not ill, had a conversation about wicker coffins, my Mum was cremated, so we chose the cheaper Bamboo coffin, which looked beautiful & very feminine & chose very tropical flowers. The coffin was the same price as the cheapest ugly wooden coffin, which as it was a cremation, we would have chosen as although in life we live to the full & try to have the best we can afford, we don't waste money on something that is going to be destroyed anyway. We were very happy with the coffin & I hope to have the same when I go, which as I'm only 36, will be in the distant future. I think my Mum would have been very happy with our choice
